Since October 2023, WFP has provided food and cash assistance to people affected by the conflict and has scaled up its food assistance including the distribution of daily meals following the recent escalation.

Duration: 6 months (Renewable based on availability of funds, business needs and performance)

Job Purpose:

    Under the direct supervision of the IT Operations Associate, the incumbent will deliver standard software and hardware support services, as well as monitor and maintain a wide range of information sources, to contribute to the effective delivery of IT services. In addition, the job holder will assist with a range of networking tasks, including basic LAN troubleshooting, verifying network connectivity, supporting cable management and patch panel updates, and assisting senior staff with the installation, replacement, and configuration of network devices such as switches, access points, routers, and firewalls. The role includes participating in field missions to WFP Field Offices and warehouses to assist with onsite IT setup, network checks, and emergency telecommunications support. 

Key Responsibilities (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):

Within delegated authority and under the direct supervision of the IT Operations Associate, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Carry-out system and equipment maintenance tasks, such as back-up system data and system protection, to ensure they are running effectively and enable easy and efficient use. 
  • Undertake basic monitoring and troubleshooting of server systems to ensure consistent delivery of IT services to staff. 
  • Respond to basic queries about technology and systems to support the correct application of technology. 
  • Receive and inspect all incoming assets and report discrepancies in IT materials inventory to senior colleagues to ensure materials are effectively tracked. 
  • Perform basic beta testing and support the roll out of new versions of centrally supported software to ensure software is operational for WFP staff. 
  • Ensure information is up to date and accurate within inventories, databases, websites, and archives to support senior officers in managing these systems. 
  • With direction from senior colleagues, collate information to be included in standard material such as training documentation and web content, to contribute to the availability of information about services and products. 
  • Follow set emergency response processes and procedures as required to provide support in enabling emergency food assistance needs to be met. 
  • Perform other related duties, as required.

Education: Completion of secondary school education. University degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering or other related fields is desirable. 

Experience: At least four (4) years of progressive experience in the IT support, system administration and networking including one (1) year of experience directly linked to helpdesk and ticketing systems support.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic. Knowledge of French language is an added advantage.

Required Experiences for entry into the role:

  • Experience resolving level 1 IT issues. 
  • Experience in Microsoft Office 365 applications and products.  
  • Very good Knowledge of IT infrastructure and networking concepts  
  • Experience in helpdesk procedures and ticketing systems including resolving hardware and software-related problems.  
  • Experience with server administration and maintenance  
  • Strong customer service and communication skills  
  • Willingness to learn with high adaptability to new changes and technologies  
  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow clear instructions
