Duties and Responsibilities
Purpose: To analyze SDG data and create statistical charts and dashboards for national SDG progress assessments. Duties and Responsibilities: Through ESCAP Resolution (E/ESCAP/RES/72/6) on "Committing to the effective implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific" member States have requested ESCAP's support in promoting the balanced integration of the three dimensions of sustainable development and in providing annual updates and recommendations to member States. The resolution also calls for ESCAP to develop a regional road map for implementing the 2030 Agenda and to address challenges to its achievement in Asia and the Pacific. The support is provided, among other modalities, through the provision of opportunities for a regional and sub-regional dialogue on SDG implementation, such as the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD), and the development of knowledge products to track progress and support stakeholders' engagement. As part of ESCAP's role in supporting SDG implementation in the region, the Statistics Division (SD) has developed statistical methods and tools to assess progress at the regional, sub-regional, and national levels. To support countries preparing for their Voluntary National Review in 2027 in creating the SDG progress assessment, SD is seeking an external contractor to analyze data and create data dashboards. Under the responsibilities of the head of the Statistical Data Management Unit (SDMU), Statistics Division, the individual contractor will be responsible for: a) Source, process, and analyze the latest SDG data following the processes and methodologies adopted by the Statistics Division; b) Participate in the development of novel methodologies to track SDG progress utilizing data science techniques; c) Create dashboards to present data and trends for SDG data exploration and analysis.
