Duties and Responsibilities

The Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen (OSESGY) will commission a consultant to provide a range of inclusion support functions to bolster OSESGYs in-house inclusion capacity. The consultancy will provide on demand support on a range of inclusion related work, as well as a number of specific tasks related to implementation of the program all with the aim of supporting the Office’s ongoing inclusion efforts and in line with OSESGYs Inclusion Strategy. Within delegated authority and in close coordination with the Gender Affairs Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for providing a range of inclusion advisory support functions and tasks, including: • Provide advice on good practice and process design to prepare series of consultations with youth and civil society and other activist groups. • Provide advice and support on gender dimensions of youth-related consultations & engagements in concert with the Gender Affairs Officer. • Advise on efficient and effective digital/virtual platforms for engagement of civil society, aware and supportive of relevant OSESGY efforts underway. • Provide inputs to a holistic OSESGY inclusion strategy. • Identify gaps in analysis on youth perspectives and priorities and support on commissioning inputs for OSESGY as required. • Foster relationships with women community leaders and representatives to better identify human security and community-based approaches to local peacebuilding and stability in Yemen. • Liaise with potential communities, CSOs, and local governance structures, as necessary, in coordination with the Gender Affairs Officer. • Any other relevant tasks assigned by the Gender Affairs Officer.

Qualifications/special skills

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in development studies, social studies in International Relations, Human Rights Law, Gender Studies, or in a related area. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of 7 years of experience in national coordination support and/or mediation support work in peace and dialogue processes or related areas is required. Working in UN peace processes for Yemen is desirable. Proven experience in integration of innovation into WPS.

Languages

For this consultancy, fluency in English and Arabic (oral and written) is required.
