Org. Setting and Reporting

With its 192 member countries, the Universal Postal Union (UPU), a specialized agency of the United Nations, is the primary forum for cooperation between postal sector players. It helps to ensure a truly universal network of up-to-date products and services. The Postal sector has been faced with far-reaching changes over the past few years. It has become essential for Posts to apply the latest technology in order to respond effectively to changing customer needs. The Postal Technology Centre Directorate (DCTP) of the UPU acts as a link between technology and the needs of the Postal industry by being the first choice in providing IT solutions, applications and services that enable the delivery of domestic and international postal services.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the .POST Business Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for business development, product development and marketing activities related to the .POST sponsored Top Level Domain (TLD), the associated digital services platform and related products and services, providing comprehensive support to the .POST Business Management Unit in the key areas of Business Development, Product Development, Communications & Marketing, Programme Management and Operations Management. 1. Business Development Support Under the supervision of the Business Manager, assists the Business Manager and the team in: - preparation and implementation of business plans, marketing and sales plans for the growth of .POST and related products and services. - communication of accurate and timely information and forecasts on the development of .POST and related products and services. - anticipation of customer needs and potential solutions to support needs identified through research. - identification and development of strategic relationships with UPU stakeholders and partners in the fields of Internet Policy, Internet, Digital and Cyber Governance. - contribution to strategic business planning and service delivery for .POST and related products and services. - provision of business support to the .POST Group - implementation of .POST and related products and services policies and recommendations 2. Product Development, Communications & Marketing Support Under the supervision of the Business Manager, assists the Business Manager and the team in: - provide technical expertise in the development and maintenance of the .POST Digital Services framework at the DNS and transactional level, including hosted services, cybersecurity services and e-Commerce services, under the guidance of the responsible coordinator. - execution of key product development, communications, and marketing (including digital marketing) activities that will drive the growth of the .POST brand, and associated revenue. - specification of market requirements for current and future Internet-based postal products by participating in market research on the Internet product activities of members of the .POST sponsored community. - development of proposals for international Internet-based digital postal products. - increasing awareness and knowledge about .POST and related products and services within identified internal and external stakeholder groups. 3. Programme Management Support Under the supervision of the Business Manager, assists the Business Manager and the team in: - management of a portfolio of projects and activities related to the security, stability and service delivery for the .POST initiative. 4. Operations Management Support Under the supervision of the Business Manager, assists the Business Manager and the team in: - maintenance of all operational processes for the .POST Business Management Unit. establishment of, and support the maintenance of key strategic operational relationships with .POST stakeholders including Registry Service Providers, Registrars and other ICANN Contracted Parties - Provide technical support and coordination between the .POST TLD registry operator and UPU technical staff in relation to the transition to an ICANN-accredited registrar-based services model. - monitoring of compliance for the ongoing verification of .POST TLD registrants and domains in line with the UPU policies.

Education

University Degree in business administration, communications and/or marketing.

Job - Specific Qualification

Proficiency in productivity and collaboration tools, such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace, etc is required Practical experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems, including platforms such as Salesforce, Zoho, or HubSpot is required Hands-on familiarity with digital marketing and outreach tools, such as MailChimp, Brevo, and SurveyMonkey is required Demonstrated experience with digital marketing principles and strategies and modern audio-visual communications approaches is required Demonstrated experience in working with the Internet and digital services environment and digital postal sector products and services is required. Familiarity with modern project and programme management techniques and accompanying tools is desirable Proven track record in marketing/market surveys and sales/business planning is required.

Work Experience

Three years of experience in marketing and business development in a multinational environment is required Three years of experience in leading product/solution exhibitions at international conferences, trade shows, or expositions is required Three years of experience working in an ICANN Contracted Party (e.g. an ICANN accredited Registrar or a Registry Operator) is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English is required. French and Arabic are desirable. - This is a non-core post. This position will be in full compliance with the "Rules governing non-core staff", which expressly exclude some international benefits (home leave, installation grant, education grant and eligibility to a continuing appointment). The selected staff will participate in the UPU Provident Scheme and will be insured together with their recognized dependents against the risks of sickness and accidents. This is a three years' contract which can be renewed if the services continue to be required in the future, the funds are available and/or the staff member's performance is satisfactory. However, this appointment does not automatically carry any expectancy of extension or renewal or of conversion to any other type of appointment. - Scheduled date for taking up appointment: As soon as possible. - French is the official language of the UPU.
