Org. Setting and Reporting
The Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) is leading the digital transformation of the Organization to enable a better, safer, more sustainable future through secure, reliable, and innovative technology solutions. The United Nations Office of Information and Communication Technology's Enterprise Solutions Service (OICT/ESS) develops and supports a wide range of enterprise solutions and provides products and services that support the work of the UN. This position is located in the Enterprise Solutions Service, Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT/ESS), hosted by ESCAP in Bangkok, Thailand. The incumbent reports to a Senior Information Systems Officer. Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of a Senior Information Systems Officer and overall guidance of Chief, ESS, the Associate Information Systems Officer may be responsible for the following duties: • Participates in preparing user requirements and other technical specifications. • Assists in the design, development and maintenance of reporting dashboards for various enterprise applications. • Undertakes analysis of well-defined modules within the system, develop enhancements and new features to existing systems; may design and implement small, stand-alone systems as needed (e.g. to meet individual user requirements). • Undertakes the tasks of preparing, documenting, and managing user acceptance testing (UAT) scripts for new and enhanced applications software. • Maintains assigned portions of systems including configuration and support for system’s applications, ensuring alignment with business requirements. • Ensures data security and integrity. • Prepares, updates and maintains system’s documentation and related technical/procedural manuals. • Assists in the set-up and monitoring of software performance measures. • Participates in functional and technical support. • Participates in facilitating communications between OICT and its clients for good client relations and is responsible for small to medium client accounts. • Drafts training materials and conducts training sessions and demonstrations of systems for users. • May provide guidance to new/junior staff. • Contributes to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provides draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. • Performs other related duties as required.

Education
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics, or a related field is required. A relevant first-level university degree in the above fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A first-level university degree and no experience will be accepted for candidates who have passed the Young Professionals Programme Examination (YPP) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P). Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science programs is an advantage.

Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in the planning, design, development, implementation and maintenance of computer information systems or related area or the successful completion of the Young Professionals Programme Examination (YPP) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P) is required. (No experience is required for candidates who have passed a United Nations Competitive Recruitment Examination.) 1 year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable. Experience in the development and configuration of PeopleSoft Learning management technologies is desirable. Experience in content management and knowledge management platforms is desirable. Experience in classroom training or facilitation is desirable. Experience in the software development process of the United Nations Common System is desirable.

Special Notice
This is a temporary position and will initially be available for four and a half months. If the selected candidate is an internal staff member of the UN Secretariat, the selection will be recorded as a temporary assignment; an external candidate will initially be offered a temporary appointment. Any extension of appointment is subject to satisfactory performance and continued availability of the post. While this temporary assignment may provide the successful applicant with an opportunity to gain new work experience, the selection for this position is for a limited period and has no bearing on the future incumbency of the post. In the event that this position becomes vacant, it will be filled through the Young Professionals Programme placement according to ST/AI/2012/2/Rev.1. Staff Members are subject to the authority of the Secretary-General and to assignment by him or her.
