Duties and Responsibilities

UN Action Against Sexual Violence in Conflict (UN Action) unites efforts across the UN system with the goal of preventing CRSV, meeting survivors’ needs and enhancing accountability for CRSV. Launched in March 2007, the Network currently embraces 27 UN entities . UN Action, working as one UN, aims to prevent and response to CRSV through a survivor-centred approach. Such an approach includes, but is not limited to meaningfully engaging survivors and meeting their needs, addressing root causes to CRSV, enhancing accountability and justice mechanisms, establishing protective environments propitious for the full enjoyment of survivors’ human rights, self-determination, and personal, social, cultural, political and economic undertakings, including in leadership roles if they so choose. UN Action is the only system-wide initiative employing a survivor centred-approach to work as One UN focused on delivery around three pillars: advocacy for action, knowledge building and country-level operational support. Since inception the Network has also enhanced capacity to prevent and respond to CRSV through a Multi-Partner Trust Fund, which has funded over 60 projects in conflict-affected countries, as well as regional and global initiatives. UN Action works across three pillars: 1) Advocacy for Action, 2) Knowledge Building and, 3) In-Country Operational Support. UN Action’s Knowledge Building Pillar is primarily supported by the European Union Humanitarian Aid through a two-year programme focused on strengthening knowledge development and dissemination on CRSV globally and in priority country contexts. This work is primarily done through supporting Senior Women’s Protection Advisors and CRSV Focal Points across UN Country Teams. The UN Action Network is chaired by the SRSG-SVC and supported by the UN Action Coordinator and UN Action Secretariat, located in the OSRSG-SVC. Each member entity has a dedicated Focal Point at the working level, and a Steering Committee member at the Principal level. UN Action’s initiative are resourced through Member State voluntary contributions to the Conflict-related Sexual Violence Multi-Partner Trust Fund (the Fund). The Contractor will support the UN Action Secretariat in its functions to support the UN Action Network and the Chair’s programme management activities, primarily implemented through the European Union Humanitarian Aid funded programme on knowledge building (Pillar 2 of UN Action). The Consultant will be under the direct supervision of the UN Action Deputy Coordinator. Interested candidates are requested to submit an application, comprising a PHP, and a cover letter. The Contractor's main activities will include: • Lead UN Action’s global knowledge hub • Liaise with private sector companies to strengthen UN Action’s knowledge hub and knowledge dissemination across sectors • Support the development and dissemination of knowledge products on CRSV in close partnership with other UN Action member entities and partners, including academia • Provide strategic support to advocacy relating to programmes and activities funded by the CRSV-MPTF, such as the development of public knowledge products, trainings, and webinars/events • Provide technical expertise to Senior/Women’s Protection Advisors and other CRSV Focal Points in priority countries on programme management • Support the UN Action Secretariat’s monitoring, analysis, and evaluation of ongoing, completed, and pending programmes • Support the UN Action Network’s monitoring and strategic planning for 2026 and beyond • Staff technical and high-level meetings and events in French and English • The Contractor will also support the overall work of the UN Action Secretariat and perform any other tasks required by the supervisor.

Qualifications/special skills

University Degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Political Sciences, International Affairs or related field is required, preferably with specialization in Development and Cooperation in the Global South. Six months working experience is required. Experience supporting a consortium or network focused on conflict-related sexual violence is required. Experience in an international or multilateral organisation focused on CRSV is required.

Languages

Fluency in oral and written English and French is required.
