Result of Service

The expected outputs of the assignment are the following: Outputs: Submission of sets of deliverables of: a) reports on technical facilitation and support provided in connection with stakeholders' mobilisation, engagement and capacity building workshops; b) monthly data on project events organised (disaggregated by location, product sector, gender, age, and disability); including updated database of project beneficiaries; and monitoring data compiled on progress of implementation and results achieved, including a summary report on evolving project risks. Duties and Responsibilities

  The International Trade Centre (ITC) is a joint agency of the United Nations (UN) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). It is fully dedicated to supporting the internationalization of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It has a mission to foster inclusive and sustainable growth and development through trade and international business development. ITC, in partnership with FAO and WFP, is implementing the South Sudan – Green and Resilient Agriculture and Climate Economy (GRACE). The project has an overall goal of promoting green, sustainable, and climate-resilient economic development by contributing to increased food and nutrition security, resilience to shocks, and job creation in South Sudan. It has three major specific objectives of a) strengthening agricultural (crop) livelihoods through increased productive capacity and productivity, improved food and nutrition security, adaptation to climate change, and enhanced preparedness against and resilience to shocks and crises; b) supporting the development of a more competitive, sustainable, and modern agriculture through the development of resilient, context-specific agricultural value chains, the improvement of access to services, and the empowerment of women and youth; and c) enhancing the protection and sustainable management of the natural resource base of the economy and agricultural livelihoods. The project supports the development of four value chains (such as sorghum, groundnuts, honey, and horticulture) by improving production, processing and handling practices; building technical and operational capacities of producers, cooperatives, businesses and support institutions; and improving access to productive and processing inputs, finance and markets. The GRACE project is funded by the European Union (EU) under the Neighbourhood Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI and is implemented over a period of 48 months in four states, namely: Central Equatoria State, Lakes State, Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, and Western Equatoria State. It will support small holder farmers, producers cooperatives, micro, small and medium sized enterprises that operate businesses in the various target product sectors, such as honey, horticulture, groundnuts and sorghum. ITC’s role will focus on providing support aimed at enhancing the business enabling environment; supporting market development, value addition and quality compliance capacities through training, advisory, and experience sharing; creating market linkages; and building capacities to facilitate regional, continental and global trade integration for South Sudan. To support project monitoring and reporting activities while facilitating technical implementation of interventions, ITC is looking for the services of a national consultant to undertake the tasks specified below. Description of Duties/Responsibilities Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Project Manager for the GRACE Project, and closely working with the National Technical Coordinator and other ITC technical experts, the consultant will undertake the following tasks: Project Monitoring and Reporting: • Support the development of project-level monitoring plans, and data collection tools • Monitor project activities on the ground and capture data on progress of activity execution by conducting field visits, compiling and analysing data and reporting on progress of implementation. • Conduct periodic result monitoring surveys and compile data (disaggregated data by age, sex and gender, location) on progress of outcome achievements. • Identify, track, capture data and report on potential project implementation risks. • Liaise with project personnel to follow up and record project events, such as stakeholder meetings and training workshops, and project beneficiaries that have received support under the project [including details of contact information of participants of project events and assistance (training, coaching, advisory services and provision of productive inputs)], using the project specific template developed for the purpose, and the ITC events database. • Gather inputs from different result areas and prepare a consolidated monthly progress report of accomplished activities. • Compile and maintain a comprehensive database of project beneficiaries, data disaggregated by location, product sector, gender, age, and disability. • Participate in the periodic interagency GRACE monitoring and evaluation meetings as well as inter-consortia partners' meetings for the overall Green and Resilient Economy Programme and prepare brief reports thereof. Technical Facilitation and Support • Support the organisation of stakeholders' engagement, consultative meetings and facilitate technical implementation of planned activities pertaining to policy and regulatory framework, trade facilitation, quality and standards as well as market and product development. • Support the organisation of capacity building trainings aimed at enhancing market knowledge and product development. • Facilitate technical workshops and events by liaising with government institutions, beneficiaries and implementation partners to ensure collaboration. Copyright Clause: The consultant has to ensure that she/he has obtained the necessary permissions with regard to intellectual property rights required to perform his/her services under this consultancy contract and for the subsequent dissemination by ITC in any form. Documentary proof is to be submitted to ITC. Should any license fee be due for the use of copyrighted materials of third parties, the consultant shall request the prior written permission from ITC. Qualifications/special skills

• Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in agricultural sciences, development, environmental science, economics or other relevant field. • Extensive relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the university degree. A minimum of 3 years of experience in agribusiness operations, coordination or management. Skills • Practical knowledge and skills in data collection methods and analysis • Sound knowledge of the political, social and economic context of South Sudan • Excellent analytical, research, writing and reporting skills • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Public presentation skills in presenting results to stakeholders • Sound computer literacy (including Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Languages

• Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
