PRAIA - CABO VERDE The Consultant will be based in Praia, Cabo Verde, and is expected to deliver sessions in person at the United Nations House.
Expected duration
The consultancy is expected to take place over a period of 12 days covering the design, delivery, and reporting phases of the Sprint sessions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Background The United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) in Cabo Verde is advancing the implementation of the UN 2.0 agenda, which focuses on strengthening capabilities in data, digital transformation, innovation, and strategic foresight across the UN system. To support this initiative, the RCO is organizing a series of short, intensive “Sprint” training sessions aimed at enhancing staff competencies in key UN 2.0 capability areas. These sessions are designed to be practical, interactive, and results-oriented, with a strong emphasis on producing reusable outputs that can be applied across multiple UN entities. The RCO seeks to engage a qualified Consultant to design and deliver these training sessions and facilitate the development of actionable tools and knowledge products. Objective of the Assignment The objective of this consultancy is to design and deliver high-quality, interactive Sprint training sessions and to support UN personnel in developing practical outputs that strengthen organizational capabilities in Artificial Intelligence, Strategic Foresight, Data and Evidence, and Digital Collaboration and Information Security. Duties and Responsibilities: Under the overall supervision of the Data Management Officer (RCO Cabo Verde), the Consultant will undertake the following tasks: A. Session Design Develop training content aligned with UN 2.0 capability areas: o Artificial Intelligence o Strategic Foresight o Data and Evidence o Digital Collaboration and Information Security Prepare: o Session agendas (2 hours per Sprint) o Presentations and live demonstrations o Practical exercises based on real UN use cases o Tools, templates, and guidance materials B. Training Delivery Facilitate in-person Sprint sessions at the UN House in Praia. Apply interactive methodologies, including hands-on exercises, group work, and live demonstrations. Ensure sessions are practical, participatory, and tailored to a multi-agency UN audience. C. Facilitation of Practical Outputs Guide participants in producing tangible outputs, including: o AI prompt packs o Foresight trend maps o Data quality checklists o Secure collaboration practices Ensure outputs are reusable and adaptable across UN entities and functional areas. D. Reporting and Knowledge Management Submit a brief report following each Sprint session, including: o Summary of the session o Key outputs developed o Recommendations for follow-up Provide all training materials in editable formats for institutional use.
Qualifications/special skills
Qualifications and Experience Education Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in data science, information management, public administration, development studies, or a related field. A first-level university degree with additional relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. Experience At least two (2) years of relevant experience in training design and facilitation. Demonstrated experience in at least two of the following areas: o Artificial Intelligence o Strategic foresight o Data management and analysis o Digital collaboration and/or information security Experience working with the United Nations or international organizations is desirable. Proven experience delivering interactive, hands-on training sessions is required.
Languages
Fluency in Portuguese and English is required.
