MAIN TASKS AND SERVICES
Under the overall authority of the Director of UNESCO MGIEP and the direct supervision of the Senior Project Officer, the incumbent Associate Project Officer- Statistics will be responsible for Statistical analysis of research data and would undertake the following tasks:
- Create database structure to save and store the data for further analysis
- Develop sampling plans and calculate sample requirements based on the scope of the study
- Support development of appropriate research tools and instruments
- Write the relevant codes in statistical packages such as R and Python to automate the data analysis
- Carry out psychometric analysis using methods such as CTT, IRT, etc., of the study instruments
- Carry out the statistical data analysis of various projects in alignment with the research design
- Support data collection through primary and secondary methods.
- Provide programmatic coordination and support in the implementation of assessment studies.
- Write and present technical and analytical reports
- Contribute to other tasks related to programme design and evaluation
- Support any other institute-wide activities as and when they arise.
- Carry out any other task assigned by the supervisor.

- Standardized protocols are developed and used in data analysis for all projects under analysis
- Statistical analysis and related activities are carried out in alignment with the research/project design in an efficient manner
- Project activities are effectively coordinated, with timely communication, updated planning tools, and regular follow-up.
- Project information and reports are well organized, accessible, and communicated effectively with relevant stakeholders
DURATION OF THE CONTRACT
The contract shall be for 1 year with a possibility of extension, subject to the availability of funds and satisfactory performance. There will be a probation period of 6 months.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Advanced University degree (equivalent to a Master’s) in statistics, applied statistics (population studies, biostatistics, education, etc.), or data science.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Up to 2 (two) years of professional experience related to statistical data analysis, psychometrics, sampling, and report writing in the field of education, or social sciences.
The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate the following competencies:
- Demonstrated skills in using statistical packages such as R, Python, MatLab, etc.
- Demonstrated advanced skills in using Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Integrity, reliability, accountability, and a sense of commitment in the execution of duties.
- Excellent coordination and organizational skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of quantitative research designs and methods.
LANGUAGES
- Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken).
- Working Knowledge of Hindi.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Certification from a recognized institution in:
- R/ STATA/ MATLAB/ Python/ Tableau/ Power BI
- Other relevant courses such as big data in education, project data analysis, project management, evaluation etc.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Professional experience within an international environment or in the UN system.
LANGUAGES
- Knowledge of another UNESCO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) or regional Indian languages.
BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS
UNESCO’s salaries consist of a basic salary and other benefits, which may include, if applicable: 30 days annual leave, reimbursement of medical insurance (up to 5% of base salary), pension plan (up to 10% of base salary), etc. The Starting Annual Salary for this position is INR 23,34,091. The salary for service contracts is taxable, and it is the responsibility of the contract holder to pay the taxes.
