Organizational Setting
The Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications implements the IAEA's Major Programme 2, "Nuclear Techniques for Development and Environmental Protection". This Major Programme comprises individual programmes on food and agriculture, human health, water resources, environment and radiation technologies. These programmes are supported by laboratories in Seibersdorf, Monaco and Vienna. The Major Programme's objective is to enhance the capacity of Member States to meet basic human needs and to assess and manage the marine and terrestrial environments through the use of nuclear and isotopic techniques in sustainable development programmes.
The Division of Human Health is organized into four Sections whose objectives are to enhance the capabilities of Member States to address needs related to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of health problems through the development and application of nuclear techniques within a framework of quality assurance.
Main Purpose
Under the supervision of the Divisional Director, the Associate Programme Officer (NAHU) serves as focal point for outreach activities undertaken within the Division, contributes to the implementation of activities related to the regular programme of the Division and monitors, reports and provides analytical support on tasks implemented
Role
The Associate Programme Officer (NAHU) is 1) an analyst reviewing, analysing, and collating information for media articles, brochures and other communications documents; 2) a collaborator with technical subject matter experts, authors and other stakeholders; 3) a team member, maintaining a divisional database and identifying suitable grants.
Functions / Key Results Expected
Assist the team in the deliverables of the programmatic activities, including CRPs, conferences, and flagship initiatives. Identify and follow up suitable grants by screening professional on-line platforms, keeping abreast of programme activities suitable for grants and bringing potential funding/activity matches to the attention of appropriate technical officers of the Division.
Conduct non-scientific editing of grant write-ups according to cooperate guidelines Coordinate and contribute to the development of IAEA cooperation agreements initiated by NAHU, work on stakeholder engagements, monitor progress and action plans.
Provide technical support to collaborative activities with other organizations and agencies by overviewing and coordinating with substantive sub-programmes the timely renewal and update of Practical Arrangements (PAs), Collaborating Centre (CC) designations, Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), etc.
Prepare, coordinate and quality-assure the development and publishing of internal and external publications, as well as other mandatory reports.
Serve as the divisional focal point for the internal database NAHUNET, maintain a divisional database of programmatic activities (i.e. country briefs, achievements, outputs, publications, etc.) by ensuring relevant information from sub-programmes is available, provide and compile related information, as well as assist in data collection and data validation process for other NAHU-specific IT solutions/databases.
Coordinate outreach activities and conduct consultants' meetings, make travel arrangements and assemble background material required for the above activities.
Draft standard and non-routine correspondence according to corporate communications guidelines and contribute to the development of outreach materials, provide office coverage and perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications, Experience and Language skills
Bachelor's Degree - University degree in management, social sciences, communications, international relations or other relevant fields. Master's degree is an asset.
Minimum of two years of experience in developing and reviewing multimedia content and articles at national or international level.
Experience in developing or contributing to the preparation of scientific/ technical manuscripts and advocacy materials.
Experience in coordinating the delivery of quality publications.
Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with internal and external counterparts and to work as a team player in a multicultural/multidisciplinary environment with respect and sensitivity for diversity.
Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
