JobPurpose

To coordinate and deliver accounting and financial support services, including the recording, interpretation, and analysis of financial information. The role ensures compliance with internal control requirements, effective payables management, and the provision of analytical inputs to support efficient service delivery and informed decision-making.

At this level job holder is expected to demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond independently to queries with only general guidance

KeyResponsibilities

The position reports directly to the Head of Finance (Finance Officer) and will be responsible for the Finance Operations functions are as follows:

  • Provide technical and procedural guidance in discussion with supervisor to staff on finance and budget matters to ensure full compliance with corporate financial rules, regulations, and policies. Coordinate with other units to ensure that financial services are efficiently delivered and aligned with operational needs.

  • Oversee the centralized Invoice Tracking System (ITS) (payables management system used in WFP) to ensure that all supplier invoices and payments are processed on time and in alignment with WFP standards.

  • Manage payables, including vendor invoice analysis, staff payments, and petty cash, ensuring high-quality and timely service delivery. Manage GST accounting and related compliance activities, collaborating with the corporate GST consultant who manages GST return filing and technical GST matters.

  • Review bank account balances and process financial transactions accurately and promptly, ensuring no overdrafts occur. .Also, liaise with the bank on payments and daily official financial matters

  • Assist in preparing, implementing, and reviewing financial forecasts to ensure that anticipated funding requirements are adequately planned for.

  • Extract and compile data from WFP systems to support the preparation and analysis of monthly financial reports, and assist in preparing donor financial expenditure reports

  • Examine financial data and accounting balances to detect patterns or anomalies and initiate timely corrective measures, ensuring alignment with corporate financial policies and standards..

  • Contribute to the assessment of financial risks and effectiveness of internal controls, and take part in initiatives aimed at improving financial processes.

  • Support the design, rollout, and application of financial procedures, and assist in establishing sound accounting practices, systems, and cash‑control mechanisms.

  • Assign tasks to support staff when required and provide peer guidance and on‑the‑job training in financial resource management.

  • Maintain and update financial and accounting records in an orderly and timely manner.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit.

Qualification

Completion of secondary school education. University degree in Finance and Accounting is desirable Preference will be given to candidates with an MBA in Finance from a recognized and reputed institute (excluding Tier 1 institutes) or CA Inter with relevant work experience.

Experience:

  • Six or more years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and financial analysis
  • Familiarity with SAP/ERP/similar accounting software application is considered as a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Basic knowledge of GST in context of Accounts payable management

Language:

Fluency in both oral and written English is required
