Duties and Responsibilities
The International Trade Centre (ITC) is a joint agency of the United Nations and World Trade Organization based in Geneva. ITC’s mission is to enable small business export success in developing and transition economy, countries, by providing, with partners, sustainable and inclusive development solutions to the private sector, trade support institutions and policymakers. Refugees and Trade: The Refugee and Trade Team delivers ITC’s trade-related technical assistance for refugees and other people affected by displacement and migration, incl. IDPs and returning migrants. The team is housed in the Women, Youth, and Vulnerable Communities (WYVC) section within the Division of Sustainable and Inclusive Trade (DSIT). In the contexts of displacement and migration, ITC increases business and employment opportunities, creates better access and connection to markets and improved livelihoods and resilience. These objectives are delivered through five areas of work; (1) provide firm-level support, (2) strengthening the ecosystems for inclusive refugee economic participation, (3) policy advocacy, (4) research and knowledge sharing, and (5) strategic partnerships. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES The Individual Contractor will work under direct supervision of Associate Programme Officer, Refugees and Trade programme. The Individual contractor is expected to perform the following duties: 1. Coordination • Assist in project planning, coordinating, and monitoring activities across the portfolio of projects in Refugees and Trade programme; • Support timely follow-up on decisions, action points, and workplan deliverables between the HQ and in-country teams; 2. Implementation of activities • Assist in preparing and organizing project-related activities, including events, trainings, workshops • Support the in-country project team in maintaining the database, trackers, and documentation of project activities 3. Monitoring and reporting • Support the preparation of project reporting; including by consolidating inputs from project team members, reviewing quantitative and qualitative data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency • Support tracking progress on KPIs, workplan milestones 4. Preliminary research and writing • Support the drafting of project documentation; including project and programme reports, concept notes, proposals, letters of exchanges, internal briefs and written materials • Conduct preliminary research and prepare summary and synthesis documents on topics related to refugees’ economic participation; including emerging sectoral trends and insights Copyright Clause: The contractor has to ensure to have obtained the necessary permissions with regard to intellectual property rights required to perform their services under this contract and for the subsequent dissemination by ITC in any form. Documentary proof is to be submitted to ITC. Should any license fee be due for the use of copyrighted materials of third parties, the consultant shall request the prior written permission from ITC. Qualifications/special skills
Desirable: Undergraduate degree (BA/BSC or other) in the field of social sciences; development studies, business administration or a closely related field Extensive relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the university degree. • At least 2 years of work experience supporting economic inclusion of marginalized communities is desirable; • Familiarity with development project and programme implementation is an advantage. Skills: • Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills • High organizational skills, with ability to manage different types of tasks and deadlines in parallel • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Ability to work independently with limited supervision • Ability to work collaboratively with teams across different countries and backgrounds
Languages
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written; • Fluency in spoken and written French and/or Arabic is highly desirable.
