Global Project Manager – RPM
THE ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a United Nations specialized agency, sets international Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) for aviation safety, air navigation, security, and environmental protection. ICAO is a knowledge-based organization engaged in the development of intellectual property. The Revenue and Product Management (RPM) Section is part of the Capacity Development and Implementation (CDI) Bureau focusing on the revenue-generating activities, including events, training, publications, periodicals, databases, websites and printing. These activities support ICAO’s Strategic Objectives and related Programme Support. The Section is responsible for the overall strategic planning, stakeholders’ collaboration, coordination, promotion, and distribution of these sellable products in close coordination with the other Bureaus/Offices of the Organization.
The Business Development Unit (BDU) within RPM is a driver for revenue generation for ICAO. The business development and sales of products and services that generate revenue for ICAO are the most important aspects of this position. These products, services and related activities within the Unit include events, partnerships and licensing of ICAO Intellectual Properties (IP), advertising sales (digital and print), training activities, databases and statistical products, and products and services within CDI.
Under the guidance of the Head of BDU, the Global Project Manager will work with the rest of the BDU team and ICAO stakeholders to network and perform business development with clients based around the world. In addition, the incumbent will concentrate on enhancing partnerships with other UN agencies, intergovernmental institutions, NGOs, and industry associations. The incumbent must possess strong diplomatic sensitivity ability coupled with international business development experience and should be mindful of potential risks of conflict of interest, undue influence or unfair competitive advantage.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Lead – Regional Events:
- Assist in the overall planning and execution of revenue generating events for all regions focusing on NACC and SAM Regions;
- Ensure regional events adhere to the Administrative Instructions for Revenue Generating Events by utilize existing tools, templates, and standard operating procedures;
- Attain pre-determined sales targets each year with a focus on reaching new-to-ICAO clients;
- In collaboration with the BDU Unit, ensure that the surplus targets are met by cost control of the project and aggressive sales and coordinated marketing campaigns;
- Where required, provide operational and logistical support on events;
- Contribute to lessons learned upon completion of the project or by the end of the budgetary cycle.
Sale of ICAO Products and Services:
- Work with ICAO Regional Offices to develop sales on specific projects to expand markets internationally;
- Promote and solicit at industry trade shows to increase the awareness of ICAO products and services;
- Establish clients that continuously buy ICAO products and services;
- Contact clients to close sales or try to enter their budgetary cycles.
Business Development and Networking – ICAO Global Events:
- Apply sales techniques understanding the client-benefit model to develop a healthy sales funnel;
- Identify sales targets for exhibitors or sponsors based on event subject matter with a view of key account management upselling;
- Manage the entire sales cycle to ensure customer satisfaction;
- Close sales with a view of generating net surplus.
CRM Management, Financial, and Electronic Data Tools/Filing:
- Utilization of CRM tools such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 to capture customer information;
- Capture sales reports and client data and sharing of real-time information via electronic task management tools;
- Create of invoices and collect funds from clients;
- Collaborate with the Marketing team on email campaigns using CRM.
Performs other sales and operational related duties, as assigned.
- A first-level university degree in business or in a related field.
- Sales-based tools such as Microsoft Dynamics CRM and project management training.
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in an international sales-specific and partnership role, particularly within multilateral and UN environments;
- Proven revenue growth and sales cycle experience involving lead/opportunity generation, and closing of sales;
- Experience in event operations and the workings of an event project (event management);
- A self-starter with the ability to meet and exceed targets;
- CRM and social media (LinkedIn Sales Navigator);
- High level of interpersonal skills to be able to adapt well to customers.
- Experience in tradeshow and networking environments;
- Aviation sales knowledge, with sales coaching and ability to present in a group setting;
- Strong organization and electronic records keeping skills.
- Fluent reading, writing and speaking abilities in English and Spanish.
- A working knowledge of any other language of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian).
This ongoing consultancy is structured on an annual renewal basis, subject to performance and budget availability. As a consultant, this position does not include paid vacation/holiday days, insurance, or pension benefits. Consultants will not be paid for vacation days, sick days and national holidays.
Compensation is provided at a monthly rate (Band B) ranging from CAD 5,097 to CAD 8,122. The consultant is expected to work on a full-time basis and will be required to work remotely. Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to support conferences and events worldwide. Employment income from UN agencies is tax exempt in Canada.
